Boston Bruins vs. New York Rangers: Who’s Better?

After last week’s 3-2 win against the Boston Bruins, The New York Rangers are making a strong case that they could give the Bruins a serious run for their money in what’s shaping up to be an inevitable playoff series.

New York also has the strength necessary to stay with the mighty dragon.

For starters, examine the Rangers head-to-head record since the beginning of the 2010-2011 season. Last Saturday’s victory marked the fourth Rangers’ win in the last five meetings with the Bruins.

Behind the bench, John Tortorella has the pulse of his players and is preparing the Rangers to make their move towards a deep playoff run.

Considering New York’s coaching, goaltending and depth, it’s obvious that the Rangers share common strengths with every post-lockout Stanley Cup winner, especially the 2011 Bruins.

Boston coach Claude Julien further elaborates:

“The goaltending is strong for New York. The Rangers have depth at every position with no issues. Defensively, they’ve been really strong and they’re not afraid to play a physical game.

“Some of their young players have developed and gotten better. It’s about maturity and that’s what we went through a few years back.

“We had some challenging times but we grew through it all and eventually we were able to persevere. That’s what I see from them.”
